Program Overview
The University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery offers a one-year position for graduates who have completed in good standing residency in either Oral & Maxillofacial surgery, Periodontics or Prosthodontic programs who are interested in gaining an additional year of education and experience in implant dentistry beyond that which is taught during their studies at dental school as well as their residency programs.
The Fellow(s) will spend one year with the Director of Advanced Implant Reconstruction and Chairman of the ITI Scholar Center, San Francisco. The one-year Fellowship will provide excellent training covering the full scope of contemporary implant dentistry with emphasis on treatment planning, understanding the fundamental principles of Prosthetic, as well as surgical protocols. It will be primarily based at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, and California Pacific Medical Center, with potential rotations at Stanford Health.
The primary role of the Fellow(s) will be to assist the program director in both educational lectures and clinical patient care. Opportunity for clinical research projects also exists.

- Digital prosthetic reconstruction
Objectives
- Increased working knowledge of advanced surgical techniques.
- Enhanced working knowledge of and experience in managing surgical complications.
- Develop a high level of surgical competence in managing compromised patients.
- Increased exposure to interdisciplinary treatment planning of dentofacial deformities.
- Increased experience in dentoalveolar surgery including management of simple and surgical extractions, impacted teeth, and preprosthetic surgery.
- Increased working knowledge of dental implants and maxillofacial implants.
- Increased experience in the preoperative evaluation of the surgical patient.
In addition to excellent clinical training, the fellow will have access to research opportunities. It is expected that each fellow will complete a peer-reviewed publication during their fellowship year.
